    1984 Honda 250r

Hi, im looking into getting my first 3 wheeler. I think it would be a fun side project. Right now my neighbor is selling his 84 250r. He said it runs ok and just cleaned the carbs. He also said it needs some tuning. Rear bushings are wore. All tiress are good. Front forks have a slight bend. Also said he has to pull start it. Hes asking 450$ obo. Is this a good deal? Ill trey to get more info on whats wrong with it. What would you guys pay? Thanks

I think he meant that you have to push start it. I dont know what trikes go for in your area but in my opinion, that is too much for a beat up fooler.

Pics definitely help determine price. If the rings are bad, you might as do a complete top end rebuild.

I think $300-$350 would be a safe place to start at if it needs work, especially a new top end, fork(s) and some other minor items. The s do not have the high resale value that the 350x and later 250r's have. They are fairly easy to work on. But watch out, they can be highly addictive!

Lets see some pics. It could have some super rare, highly sought after parts on it, and you could easily make $450 off of one part, if it is a certain piece. Try talking him down, and do what you feel is right!

well all restore rebuilds cost some cash...Think of your overall ablity to perform the work yourself. I'm not talking just ripping stuff apart...Bobby B wants to know Can You Fix It? Yes you can? You'll be all over 750-1000 in parts front to back...ballpark. Don't forget as you get into this the idea of aftermarket pipes, new seat, wider axle, new plastic...so as mentioned what parts are on it and how 100% orginal and intacted complete the 84' is I'd say 450 obo isn't out of line. The buy a turn key machine for your end cost and ride TODAY choice is also one to consider. Worry free of bloody knuckles!
