    Tecate PVL timing marks

    I have a PVL ignition in my 85 tecate and I can seem to finnd the timing mark on the stator. I was woundering if anybody can tell me how to time this thing. I know its out of time because when i kick it over the kick starter kicks back, and it kills my foot!!. Thanks

    i guess not many people out there run a PVL ignition on their tecate.

    That's what sucks about the PVL. I have on on my racer, but couldn't tell you about at Tecate. Where did you buy it? I've had to go back to the dealer when I lost the directions. I bought mine from FTZ, but I believe that the importer is Penton Imports.

    You can call them at 440-988-4474. They may be able to direct you somewhere that can help you. A word of advice: When you do figure it out, scratch the marks into the metal so you always have them.

    I have got a pvl ignition on my tecate and it also kicks back pretty hard if it doesnt start right away.( generally dont have a problem though) The bad part is I have no clue how to set these things as mine came with my bike. When I rebuilt my engine last year I was real careful to mark every thing real well so that I got it back in the same spot. To help with the kick back ,I never choke it and I push the kick starter about half way down until I feel good compression and kick from there. This made a huge differnece in the way it started. before with a full kick it would kick back at me about ten times before starting, now I can start it on the first kick almost every time. I know I didnt answer your question, but I hope it helps anyway.----Joe 8)

    Thanks for the advice. I just got mine running pretty good but its not the best(hours of adjusting).

    Tecatecrazy how does yours run with the PVL on it?

    excellent, other than running alittle rich. gobs of power. I would put it up against just about anything as far as yanking your arms out of socket pull
