    Looking at a 350X

    Hi group
I am new here and just getting back into 3 wheelers locally to me there is a 350X
for sale. I have always wanted one since they were new and now I have the oppurtunity.
Its an 1985 model and from the pictures seems to be in very good shape. I plan on going to look at it on sunday weather pending. Need some advice.

1st off what should be looked at when buying a used 350X any particular areas to watch for.

2nd what are they worth I see from my own reasearch online there is a huge variance in price from $1000-$5000+ for some really mint+++ examples

I have posted some pics of the 350x in question

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Good looking trike there...loks like OE fenders, thats a plus, but it looks like the front fender is cracked. I see some slight mods done to it, which means it's probably got a lot of hours on it. Also the whole front brake system is MIA - looking at about 150.00 to replace with good used parts
-Check the frame for cracks and welds, usually behind the motor. (100-150 used replacement)
-Take the rear fender off and look at it from behind to make sure the frames not bend or twisted.
-Check the rear and swingarm bearings...get on the bike and rock it side to side, should feel tight. (50.00 for swingarm, 40 for rear, 40 for front)
    - Crank up the engine, it's the most expensive part here, make sure the decompression cable works, and the engine doesn't smoke...if it does, you're talking a minimum top end rebuild (300-500 if you do it yourself)
    - Check the rear brakes (especially if you don't have fronts!!) (100-200 depending on whats not working)
    - Take it down the road and make sure the front is tracking straight, otherwise the forks are bent. (100-150 USED)
    - shift through all the gears (6) and make sure it goes into each smoothly
hope this helps - judging by the pics alone, and if the engine is good I'd probably spend 700-800 on it.

Check just in front of the front sprocket for damage to the cases from the chain jumping off.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.

Thats alot for a bike that probably needs every bearing and seal changed. But it looks pretty darn good to me,, you should see the peice of crap I.m redoing now, I'm up to $1550 in parts so far. And that does look like a first gen OEM rear fender.

Also, it has an '86 seat on it, so other parts may not be original if that's a consideration

Ouch, but what do you do? You guys up North have a higher demand and more limited market for these which drives the price up. I would say that if you are not in a hurry then pass on it.

Just shoot him an offer if you like it and it runs good. Im sure some other guys from Canada can chime in. From what I have gathered the trikes there are more expensive and 350x's are probably a bit more rare to come by. The guy who sold me my 350x at first told me he wanted 1700 for it. Trust me he came down much more than that on price when I bought it.

I would look at the front end really close. Hopefully the front fender was resting against something to put that twist in it. I wouldn't spent that kind of coin for an 350x, I would buy one cheaper and put that kind of coin in it though, then at least I know what HAS been done to it instead of the person saying "I think" or "The other guy said it was done".
You can always go to the United States and bring one across the boarder, all you need is the bill of sale and the title.
Where are you from in Canada?

Front tire looks crooked in the first pic... could just be the pic tho. Like others have said check the frame for cracks and the caase near the chain.
