What kind of pipe did it come with? I know the majority of the guys are running Keihin carbs on these older R's, they seem to run better with them for some reason. For a 300 kit that is going to be a rider, a 35 or 36mm keihin. I think the 35mm is the Airstryker, and is the best carb you can fit into the stock manifold, and provides superb performance over even the outdated 86 250r's "flatside" 34mm keihin. Im not sure what jetting should be set at, each machine differs to be honost. If you can find someone with a similar setup, they should be able to give you a good starting point.
