Could be a number of things. First check your throttle cable routing (make sure it's not binding up when you turn the wheel side to side). Second pop off the top of the carb and pull out the slide and make sure it's clean (if not clean it). Thirdly loosen the carb boot clamps and turn the carb where you can see down inside the top and make sure the slide guide didn't break off. Lastly make sure your throttle springs back when you turn it (twist) or press it (thumb). If all that checks out...could have been an air leak.
If trikes are so dangerous how could I possibly still be riding them after 12 years?
Not sure, but I think DE means Delaware? If it does, you may have noticed the freezing temps outside. You could have moisture inside your throttle cable and it may have frozen while you had the throttle open? Just a guess. LOL Seriously though, your cable could have frozen open with the temps.
