    200x kick start question

    Is there a difference between 1983 and 1984 kick start gears?

    No they should be the same... All internals are the same from 83-85

    There is a difference between 83 and 84/85. On has one more tooth if I remember right.

    I was thinking they were all the same until my 85 kicker started slipping. I picked up a nice 83 assembly and then noticed the differences in the number of teeth on the drive gear, idle gear and the pinion gear noted in my manual for after 83.
    83 200X (85 engine & swingarm)
    85 200X

    No...they are not. As stated above, the kicker gears are slightly different in the '83 model...AND...the same goes for some of the tranny gears ('83 vs '84-'85).
