please help 86r is givin me the shits

my mates 86r has been runnin sweet then for some reason the other day hes got over the sand went to start it got about 100metres and it started hesitaing then died its got heaps of spark the problem is that if u take the plug out and clean it real well put it back in and kick it the motor fires up for a few seconds blowing heaps of smoke then dies and when u take the plug out it is fully wet like the motor is floodin its runnin a 168 main jet and the clip is 2 notches down from the top i thought this jet was a little to big but the trike has been runnin fine with this setup not a miss anywhere theres heaps of compression it was rebuilt not long ago the only thing i was a bit worried about is that a couple of rides ago a noise came in from the bottom end he shut it off straight away to find that the gearbox oil was low now i dont know much about two strokes but im thinkin that maybe a crankshaft seal and trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro itself which is letting gear box oil past the bearing and foulin the plug that was just a guess anyways any help would be much appreciated as i have been puzzled buy this thing for days but as i say i cant understand y the mixture would have anything to do with it coz it has been runnin sweet with the 168 jet and the position the clip is in yeh so if any one has any ideas let me hear them

Sounds like your are on the right track with the crank seals. I have heard that you can spray wd-40 in the tranny and if the seal is bad you can smell the wd-40 when it burns as it is sucked into the cly.
