at the moment i am rebuilding some rear brakes for a few 350x's. these are the pistons out of each. Now, i cannot fathom how people do such things, but i think it was about time for some new pads huh?? Now new pads are what?? 10-25.00 depending on make. A new piston is 70 bucks, and you can only assume the disk cant be in to good a shape at a retail of 250 bucks, thats 320.00 because someone couldnt be bothered to change the pads!! anyone know of any other machines that use the same piston, i dont want to spend 70 on a new one, and finding a used 350 setup for cheap is next to impossible! if i can find a setup with the same piston i could broaden my search a bit. Or if anyone has a junk/frozen caliper for a 350 they dont plan on fixing hit me up!! Anyone know what the material is on the end of the good piston?? some kind of cork??

On a serious note, you should see what engines look like when people don't change their oil. It's cheaper in the long run to do the general maintenance items than it is to wait for them to break.

looks like all yr 300ex/400ex are the same piston. 61.00 at service honda, figures the ones for the 450's look the same in the pics, but the part # is diff. they are 10 bucks!! go figure!! also 87-92 250x same piston.

Anyone know what the material is on the end of the good piston?? some kind of cork??

I'm not exactly sure what is in the middle there, but my piston had it missing when I rebuilt mine. I ended up mixing some 2 part epoxy and pouring it down in the middle, to just above the the lip. It's self-leveling, provided you have the piston on a flat surface, worked out real nice when hardened, gives the pad a very thin cusion to ride on, with very little give. We'll see how it holds up under temp. here in the next few weeks.

most all brands of machines use the same calipers and different brackets, ive switched pistons in and out of a lot of different branded machines... i pretty sure i put a 87 tecate piston in a 86 200x rear caliper... kawasaki # 43020-1102 is $21.74 @ http://www.kennedyscycles.com

measure the diameter of it... i'll measure a tecate piston...

the po before the po of my 350x put the brakes togeather with no pads too and he works at honda when i talked to him he said the motor would never run again cause it seized up lmao the de comp broke push it passed the comp stroke and it starts first kick most times

Just to sure this up in my own mind today i measured the kawasaki piston and the 87 200x pistons and the are exactly the same.... 1.334"

this is a rear caliper piston with the park brake shaft....
I don't remember off hand but they were the same diameter and length... they are the exact same pistons... honda gets 60 bucks, kawasaki price was 22 bucks...

Yamaha banshee, warrior and raptor 660 use the same rear caliper as the 350x. I have a 350x caliper on my banshee, exact same part.

My neighbor made me some caliper pistons for 10 bucks on a lathe or bridgeport or something.
The orig Triumph ones were chromed and flaking and over 100$ each
