    Maximum RPM

I wanted to know what the max RPM's are for a YTM200 if anyone knows, i rev it up sometimes and I need to know what my max RPM before I blow my motor 10 miles form home. if there's a link to a specs sheet with his info I could use that as well. Thanks.

Well, this is for safety's sake, i'm not revving the crap out of it, i don't want to shift by ear all the time and find out one day that i did one too high. I do race it on occasion for fun but im never redlining it, an'd im not power shifting it either, it's just because i'm going to put a tach on it and I wanted to know what the max was, mostly because i heard of streetbikes with a high redline and i didn't want to find out what mine was the hard way. so yeah. It's easier to talk to me in person, if you can keep up :P

Honestly, if you can't figure it out, you should probably get a Scrambler or something. It ain't rocket science.

Thanks for the helpful reply. If I can't figure it out, I'll ask for information on 3WW. Love the educated opinion though.

IMO you wont blow it by simply reving it to the redline to shift. Just dont hold it there! I'm racing my SX hardcore in winter and the motor did not lose any compression at all. All you need to remember is not rev it to the sky when its cold or for a long period and make sure you got fresh oil.

I'm with Fabio, if you don't know when to shift then it is time for an automatic. When the noise and vibration starts to drive you crazy it's time for another gear.

When your valves start to float and the engine loses power and starts to burble, you've hit max rpm.

If you feel that your RPM's are a bit high, then shift. If they're too low, and you're not going anywhere fast, or its bogging down, then down-shift.

You wont hurt the ytm. I have been beating on mine for years and never had a problem, it's seen a lot of WOT for long periods of time. Run good oil in it and giver hell.

It's just like with a car, you listen to the RPMs, and you can kind of guess when to shift, or when it will shift.

But like I said.... You can't kill them. I have sank mine twice to the point it stops running, tip her up on end drain it out pull start and keep riding. The most work it used to see was when we would ice ride and it was Wide open for 4 hours at a time. Ride it. And hey if you don't want to wind it up don't. Simple.
