    carb/cam recomendation

im in the process of building up my 200x motor, so far i have the following
    wiseco 10.25 c/r
    s/s valves
    ported head
r/d hi perf valve springs w/ ti hardware
    cobra exh
i see plenty of knock off xr200 carbs on flea bay and from what ive read is that they are bigger than the oem and bolt up. ive read that those faux kiehn carbs work well but do real kiehn jets work with them?
also, any recommendation for a cam, dunes and hill climbing.

i have one of these fake keihin carbs. it came with my wifes 200c gio quad. yah one of those four wheel things. this bike was very hard to start, did not idle well and and if you stabbed the throttle there was a big lag. anyway to make a long story short i got a different carb for it. just last night i decided to open up the carb. it looks like keihin main jet will interchange but the pilot is a different story. there is a brass insert that prevents the longer keihin pilot from fitting. i think the pilot circuit is the problem with these carbs, no air screw or needle adjustments made a difference to starting and bottom end . so i decided to drill out the brass insert in the pilot location, now a keihin jet drops right in . have not had a chance to try the carb back on the gio we will see what happens and report back.

I was runnin an xr200 cam for a while in my X. Really seemed to rev higher and pull harder on the top end. Unfortunately there was some bearing schlague on it, so when I rebuilt the top end a couple weeks ago I put a stock cam back in. The power difference was night and day. If you're on a budget the xr200 cam is the way to go.

do you want to spend some $ or are you looking for cheapo? if your wanting to spend the $ to do it right, web has an awesome setup.
    stage-3 cam
    web springs
    web retainers
    web hardened rockers ($65 each)
    list goes on.
if you contact www.theoldone.com (Endyn) is the shop they do CNC valve work and valve seat work on these heads and help improve flow and lot more torque. for $150 they dissamble the head, clean it, work on it, clean again, then reassembly everything. if you have the new parts they can install them, they also are web dealers so you can order everything through them.

if you want to do it the cheap way, xr200 cam and lapped valves. make sure you repalce the valves as i can assure you they are probebly worn.

i listed what i already have purchased. my head is already ported with new valves and assembling 200x heads is really easy. i was looking for a xr cam just to get the engine running with something better than stock. after, i can decide what cam to go with. have you ridden a 200x with a stage 3 web? if so, did you like how the engine performed. also, you are right about the valve, they were worn out when i pulled the head apart.

Powroll makes some great stuff although a little pricey. The cams did not seem out of range. Here is the link http://www.powroll.com/P_HONDA_XR200.htm

http://www.akunar.com/CARBURETTORS.html I have the older version of this flat slide carb on the top and let me tell you this thing worked great on my 79' Franken bike with a 71' sl100 engine bored to a 150cc+ with a Powroll cam and an Akunar hi comp piston and port work done all by myself. I raced against the Evo 125 2-strokes and took the 125 class championship. I even did well against some modern bikes in an Arean cross race. The engine wasn't a rever but made a ton of power off the bottom right through the midrange. Heres the link to that build
