    84R porting questions . . .

So i got my R all apart and i noticed that the factory port job is pretty nice , nice and big. Has anyone got a port job done to the air cooled R ? If so what type of port did you get and what did you gain ? I'm just trying to decide to port or not to port , Any input would be great .
    Thanks

I mainly plane on trail and mx riding. My buddy said just get a drag port but i want to keep my bottom end. I'm already running a 36mm carb , vforce3 reeds , reed spacer , and free flow filter. It's bored .40 over and i am debating on milling the head . Not much there to mill though , could i use a different gasket for the head ?

DONT get it drag ported if you ride trails/mx.. you will hate it.. I have built alot of bikes, and something I always tell my customers is this.. If you like your bike and the way it runs, leave it alone... Porting is a great thing and you can make serious power, but do plan for a ride or two of tuning.. and I have had customers who I have ported wicked cylinders for, the bikes make a ton of power, and the customer realizes... its not what they wanted....

now with the disclaimer said... I would do a MX port on a air R in a heart beat... they become very grunty motors.. pull very hard bottom to mid with decent top end...
