honda trx 125 question

a friend of mine has a mid 80's honda trx 125 4 wheeler that I am considering buying. it is part of a pakage deal that includes a honda 125M 3 wheeler that just needs the motor put back in. the 4 wheeler possibly has a hole in the bottom of the crankcase. Is there anyway to fix the hole by welding etc? or just replace the whole bottom end of the motor. I found one on ebay for around $100. I dont know if im wasting my time and money. I would be getting both machines for $175. any help would be appreciated. thanks

if it will run with a new case then buy it,, i got a trx200 and its a tank lol.
