    Oil question for Big Red...

I just changed my oil on the BR for the first time and when I drained the old oil....It almost filled up a gallon ice cream pale.. 4 quarts...WTF?!

I put 2.2 quarts back in it but that looks like about half of what I took out...

Either the previous owner way overfilled it or water got added to the oil. Was it running fine before the change?

The oil looked good. No water...Just way over filled....It ran great before I put fresh oil in today..It purrred... The only thing I noticed that may not have been right was the low end of the engine seemed to get HOT....I bet it will run even better now?!?!

I measured the oil that came out...It was just under 3 quarts...so it was overfilled for sure but not as much as I had first thought..

    I had one like that.

When I bought it, the gas had been left on and all the gas drooled into the crankcase and filled it so much I couldn't kick it over.

Plus, not all shut off valves work perfectly so I have added to my list. Always see if oil is high OR low.
