    Steering Bearing Question

Replacing the steer bearings in my 86 200x. Got an All-Balls set, I just wanna make sure I get everything in the right spot the 1st time. Im pretty sure I have to remove the bottom race, does this just "slide" off top? Any tips on getting the race off? And then does the thick washer in the kit go where the race was, against the bottom tree? Also the bearings have diff #'s on them, but look identical. Is there a top and bottom on the bearings? Included some pics in case... The last one is just my chubby beagle Sam....ThanksClick image for larger version.

The bottom bearing presses on, the top slips on. You need to angle slice that lower race or press the stem out, I cut them off.......

If you need the washer, it goes under the rubber seal, then the bearing presses on. You re-use your top seal.

The directions are CRAP! If you use the washer and don't need it, you run out of threads. If you need it and don't use it, it may not tighten down.

I measure the stock parts, install my new outer races and do a dry mock up to see what I need. Once that lower bearing is pressed on, you can't get it off.

Ask Seabass8, he had an issue with this year/model; Send him a PM...........
