Share your thoughts on putting a winch on the front rack. Pictures appreciated!!!!!!!

I am thinking about installing a winch on my 1984 Honda BR200. It has the front rack already. I am thinking about just welding on a 1/4 inch thick steel plate to the rack and mounting the winch on that.

I am concerned about the amperage needed to run the winch and does the engine need to be running to allow the winch to work. Not sure what the amperage output I have from my 1984 Honda BR200, anyone know????

    Pictures and experience always welcome
    Thanks
    David

You will want to hookup direct to the battery, and 1/4" is pretty excessive... I used 10 gauge top, and 1/8th to gusset the sides. Doesnt flex at all...

The added weight of the winch will be less noticable at the handlbars if the winch is placed as close to the steering stem as possible

What is the weight limit for the front racks? I would think that a winch would break it off (when in use)

I have reefed the crap out of my winch, pulling myself, other rigs out of the mud, and plowing... Have had zero issues... Rack weight limit, I believe was just put on, due to excessive weight can change handleing chareteristics, but at winch speeds, non-exsistant. Weight of the winch is not noticed out on the rack at all... (10-15 lbs) Been running mine about 2 years now, without a single problem...

I could do that... I am thinking of adding some speed holes to it, just to try and take a bit of the bulky look out of it... 12" of snow coming on sunday to minneapolis! BR to plow for a few more hours!
