I wasnt scolding you. Just saying that there is a right way and a wrong way of working on a 25 y/o machine with limited parts availability...
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

Anyhow, the nut was off so the screw part was ing against the valve end and the threads in the rocker because it wasn't locked down.

You need to use a good screw, re-tap that rocker arm (put grease on it to keep shavings on the tap) adjust it at TDC on comp stroke and lock it down with the nut.

Ensure tightening the nut doesn't change the clearance or make the clearance larger and then tight down the lock nut because most people don't have that itty bitty square wrench to hold that part that hits the valve.

Did you friend understand TDC at a compression stroke versus an exhaust stroke? Sounds 180 out and has some bad rocker threads.............
Yes but we were having a hard time finding the "T"mark on flywheel. Finally have found the mark tonight and will try again.
    Thanks for everyones advice.

You have to take the spark plug out and use the center flywheel bolt to turn it over.

Put a straw in the sparky hole to find TDC and verify it by the mark. Then read the book on whether your at the correct TDC; VERY EASY.....................

Maybe this is why guys like 2 strokes?

Its easy once you know what your doing!
The center flywheel bolt your talking about,is that behind the CDI?

I stopped by a fellow members house on the way home,he's also a new 200x owner like me,and he couldnt find the T or F marks either{he has manual also}But between the both of us tonight we were able to find them.
Just went outside and took a peek in hole to look and you were right,I was at 180.The "F" mark was showing, and its at the same spot as a circle A that I thought was the T mark cause its the only mark I could find
See pic, where I drew the A is what I thought was the T mark,I now know better. The F is right above the circle A

I found a really great feeler gauge from dratv.com. It has the .002 and .003 feelers mounted on a little handle and with the proper bend in it to get down in the hole. They also have the proper Honda valve wrenches for the nut and the stud. Pricy but well worth the money. Im a firm believer in having the right tool for the job.

I was looking for a bent feeler gauge to get in there, finally thought, "Who am I kidding these things cost $3 bucks." Bent it myself and it works great on the 200X. Its a lot easier to modify a tool than wreck an engine. You rocker thread are mashed like DC said.

Torpe, I loved that picture. There is a reason to follow the steps in the manual. If you have problems figuring it out, ask on here. Ton's of great advice.

I think he got it now? Pretty sure he just didn't understand teh TDC t compression stroke to Adjust the valves/

Understandable/. It was rough for us all at first. You will get it and 100% riht it didn't fall off because u didn't use a feeler gauge.. Just wouldn't hurt any

OK,must have done something right. Before all this mess started with me finding the nut missing, bike was running fine, not missing or anything, but it lacked the power I thought it should have. Not ever riding a 200x before I wasnt sure though. So tonight after adjusting valves again I cranked it up and rode it to the end of the street and back and it HAD the POWER I thought it should have,SO THATS GREAT.bad thing is,valves still sound like they are clattering like a mofo.Hadnt adjusted cam chain tension yet,I dont know if that will make a difference or not
