Seeking welder for 350x gusset job in the NW (Portland)

My first frame on my 85 350x had already broken and had a brace welded in and after a year of hard riding, that one broke. I got another 85 frame and swapped everything over. After two rides the frame was already showing cracks. I tried to have a friend weld the cracks to prevent it from going all the way through but that just made it worse. I've got my old frame and considering trying to build a new frame or buying a frame with a title and getting gusseting done. I'm leaning on the second and maybe building a custom frame later.

Anyone know of a place in the pacific northwest that would do that kind of work? I live in downtown Portland, Or. I would imagine that the donor frame wouldn't matter if it's an 85 or 86 since it's getting gussets anyway. The only difference I know really is the thin plate added to the vertical tube right behind the engine that always cracks...

Yah, I know. The problem is that he lives on the other side of the country which is why I was looking for someone local. If I don't find anyone here I'll probably have a frame shipped to him (if he's available)...

I found that TPC trikes makes a gusset kit for $65. Looks like a pretty solid setup. Anyone used it? Any good?

I'll be the 1st to say that Bill makes a very good gusset kit, I believe they will sell you them and weld them on for about 225$, not sure, check there site.

If you shrinkwrap it and use FEDEX or UPS, it isn't that bad, USPS runs about 75$. I opened up a free FEDEX account to save 10% on shipping.........

ToddsExhaust in Mcminnville. This guy is the man if you need someone in Oregon. He does this custom stuff as much as he does exhaust. If he welds it, it will never break. Bonus is he has a friend at the buisness next to him that has a huge water jet and can cut custom pieces for next to nothing. Todd has done some custom motor mounts for an Evo Mx bike that I raced at a modern areancross track and has never showed any sign of breaking or bending. Truthfully there are lots of great welders out there but this guy has a passion for trikes, quads and 4x4's just wait til you see his daily driver. Its out of this world. Here is the link or numberhttp://local.yahoo.com/info-21941276...em-mcminnville
