Hey Mickey,
I have a quick question for you. I am wondering who manufactured the scoopless tank on your Powroll mx bike. Was it an aftermarket item or a stock tank that was modified? I would love to run a similar setup on my 200x. Also, what exhaust is on that bike? Never seen one like that and it doesn't look like one of the Powroll manufactured pipes.
Thanks, xrider
Pete Fisher the new owner of Powroll did the tank mod.,but you won't get him to build anymore,he hated when I got new bikes back then.lol The pipe/trike you are looking at is a XR250 motor in a 200x. The pipe again was built by Pete and the end meg was part of my 200x race megs. I don't know if they still sell them or not.

Wow. Ill bet a few beers at trike fest and the croud woulndt let you go home for weeks. So why the skinny tires on tri z and 250rs? Was this to aid in more air flow to the liquid head?

Well I havn't drank in 23 years so a few beers and I wouldn't ever make it home!lol
I wouldn't call any front tire skinny on 3 wheelers. IMO the narrow tire puts more psi into the ground for better bite. A big wide tire wouldn't bite as well and would push more depending on what tire it was.
Hi Mickey,
I'm the guy DC bought the 86 200X head from....this is awesome that you are on 3WW...now I can finally clear up this story. I purchased the 200X from my supervisor at work about 3 years ago (he was 37 at the time). His dad bought him the 200X new and they removed the engine and sent it out to powroll to be moded. This would have been early 1986. The port work was extremely clean as Dirtcrasher stated. It had a 28/30mm round slide carb that from what I can tell, appeared to be throat bored. The carb was also spigot mount but had been fitted with a flange mount to mate up with the 200X's intake manifold. The engine work was clearly done by a pro. He also mentioned your name specifically, and said he had talked to you on the phone a few times while you were doing the work. He said your foot had been broken/injured in an RV accident and that is why you were doing the work. Another thing I noted is that the clutch had HD springs installed that were red in color, not just a bit of red paint; they are either painted or powder coated completely red ( I still have them here)...I have never seen this before. I don't believe he had any reason to lie to me...he did sell me a nice 86 200X for $450 after all, so he was not trying to BS me to get big money for his trike. He could have his facts mixed, he was only 16 at the time. I hope you can shed some light on this. Thanks!
Don't worry...just run watcha brung...
Thanks Mickey!! I'm sure DC will be happy to know this......You may remember the name (Scott Storduer) He said he annoyed the heck out of you by calling to much.. 16 year old with a brand new 86 200X back in 86...go figure.
Don't worry...just run watcha brung...
Mickey, just wondering how easy the xr250 motor bolted up to the 200x frame? Or did you build a custom frame?
when doing a porting job on the intake and exhaust runners in a head, what surface finish would you recommend?
I know it`s popular opinion that glass-smooth and shiny is NOT preferred on the intake side as some would say the fuel tends to cling to the walls of the runner.
So how rough are we talking here?...I know you smooth any casting flaws or flash but when do you stop going up in grit count?
and secondly, do you prefer to do any shaving on the valve guides themselves where they stick into the intake runner?
I have tried all kinds of surfaces and found no power gains. You just don't want the fuel to puddle.
The only reason those guilds are gone in that head is because we CNCed it, and on that head they don't have guilds that stick into the port much anyway. Most heads they do and we keep them in,along with the valve guild boss for the most part. These are just guild lines, every head is different, and flow gains are in different areas.
good eve mickey. i thought you might like to see these,,, they were shootIng pictures of me and you seem to be in alot of them too,,, thurston county orv park and the no longer kingdome i think early 83,,, GLAD TO SEE YOU IN HERE TO RELIVE AND BRING THE PAST BACK TO THESE GUYS WHO STILL LOVE TRIKES!!! i have never been trikeless in the 33 years since the first one,
