    Building a 86' Tri-Z 250

First time to this site and what a great one!!!! I am going to build this from the frame up. All I have so far is a frame and was wanting to know if anyone knows if 85' parts will fit the 86'. Plastics, radiators, swingarms etc. I need everything. I have an 86' already completly stock and fast. I want the new one to blow everything else off the dunes. Any info you might have would be wonderful. Trikes forever!!!!
    Thanks in advance!!!!

Welcome! I think the 86 & 85 frames are a little different. Coolant reservoirs are different. rear rims are different but will interchange. front forks on the 86 are bigger than 85, so make sure you get the right triple clamp. 85 has a 5 speed tranny, 86 has 6 speed.

Good Luck! Let's see a pic of your 86 Z.

As far as I know the only difference between 85 and 86 was the 86 had bigger forks. 86 has a 23 inch tire instead of 25 inch (I run a 23 inch on mine an its a whole lot better than the 25) I think that carb settings were different between the years, but as far as radiators, swingarm, plastics, it will all work the same on both models. Oh yeah, almost forgot 86 has 6 speed while 85 has 5 speed, although I have heard that the 6 speed gears will fit in the 85 cases and vice versa.
