84 110 smoke during start up...

I get some smoke during start up but it seems once the bike is warm it goes away...The trike has new rings less than 2 years old so the rings are good..Could the cold smoking be from the valves being out of adjustment?

Normally this is caused by worn valve seals. It would have been a good idea to replace them when the top end was apart 2 years ago

I know that too much oil in the bike can also cause the bike to smoke... check your oil and make sure your at the proper level.

Yeah my buddy just tossed the rings in and it ran great after having no compression...but im sure there could have been a little more done to the engine...
I have the bit of smoke during start up and the damn rattle/tic (valve?) sound...Im going to take a vid of the annoying sound to see if anyone can help me pin point it!

If I remember correctly the 110 does not have an exhaust valve guide seal, this is because the valve pushes up and gravity keeps oil from getting in the combustion chamber.

It does use an intake valve guide seal.

my 110 started smoking when cold after about 2 years with a new OEM piston and rings with a fresh bore.
I think it may have been a poor bore job.

I dont think the valves being out of adjustment would have much effect on oil burning unless the trike isnt running right (if the valves were too tight it would have a hard time running but could cause oil to burn i suppose, and if they are loose it would not cause oil burnage, but it would be a good source of that clattering tick sound you hear)

if its only when the engine is cold, then I personally wouldn't worry to much. may be time for a rebuild and some new valves.

once it smokes even when warm, tear it down for sure.
