    250sx - Testing Oneway Clutch

I've searched through previous threads about the oneway clutch, but nothing really touches upon testing it. So here's the story. My kick starter has slipped since the day I bought my trike. The kick starter always returns back in place, so the springs appear to be fine. In order to get the clutch to catch I have to slowly push down on the kick starter until I feel it catch. I have taken apart the engine and when I turn the oneway clutch (in the centrifugal clutch) by hand it will only turn in one direction, as it should.

The electric starter works like a charm, which leads me to believe the oneway clutch on the left side of the engine is fine and has nothing to do with my kick starter slipping.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Is it possible a faulty oneway clutch will operate properly by hand but not when I use the kick starter?

If it backs up even the slightest it's junk. Your kicker slips so it's junk. Make sure to measure the surface it rides on and see if it's in spec, it also wears and sometimes both pieces are needed......
