350x headlight issue

I've always had a problem with my headlight in regards to the dimmer switch. When the switch would be on "low", only the right light would power. When the switch was on "high", only the left light would power. So I went and bought some replacement HM202 bulbs at Carquest. Now with the switch on "high", both lights power but when the switch is on "low", only the left light powers? If I jiggle the wires on the left light, the power will cut on and off but nothing happens to the right light when jiggle the wires? Where should I start looking? I can't see any broken wires just by glancing at it?

The fact that you have any lights at all rules out a bad ground. The bulbs have 3 prongs correct? I would say to just check your wires for corrosion, cuts, or poor connections at the plug. I'm not sure what they are like stock since mine was rewired with it's own switch but if the wires are single coming from the switch then split into two, then you know the switch is good, so start at the lights and work backwards. If you have a multi-meter, check for continuity between the matching ports on the plugs, white to white, blue to blue, black to black.

Couldn't have said it any better!!!! Also take all the connections apart and clean them up with fine sand paper or steal wool, wouldn't hurt to do all connections on complete wiring harness to insure you don't have more problems ..

I agree with corrosion, double check for good clean contacts. I had to modify the contacts on mine a bit, they seemed to recess over time.

Thanks. I just recently went through a headlight issue with mine but it was just a grounding thing. Also had an ignition issue due to someone using one of those crimp on things that is used for splicing into a wire without cutting anything at all, they are so crappy. I opened up most all of the wiring on the bike and removed all crimped connections and soldered them properly, I wasn't taking any chances.

The splice I am referring to is the blue plastic thing on this page. Never use them....

the problem i had was the little spring inside the main end that makes contact with bulb was sticking on me cause when i would wiggle the wires, they would come on properly and i checked every wire and couldnt figure it out for 3 days ,like i said turns out the spring needed cleaned up and lubed,problem solved.!~
