Just heat it up with a torch then take a pipe that is around the same diameter as the starter and smack the pipe with some force. Works Great!!

When I made my auto x (engine from an '82 200) I just notched the frame to get the carb to fit & didn't use the engine bracket on the head, rather than swapping the top end over from the x, works great.

    Craigslist is plagued with these.

An auto x is like an auto mustang.....they're just not the same without a manual.

Trying to make an autox here. I took a 185 motor and put it in the frame put the wiring is not plug and play. The 185 has 3 wires coming from the stator and the 200 auto that was in there has 2. I am assuming a 200x motor has 2 also. Do I need to swap stators? Or is there a way?

    Here's my 85 Auto-X. 82 ATC200 motor. I run a 200X carb with pod filter. +4 swinger & 2" hub extensions with Bear Claws.
I have a second motor that's getting tore down for a rebuild with all the performance goodies. Also working on a custom DG aluminum exhaust. I did buy a 14 tooth front sprocket because first gear is pointless in the snow and mud. Hoping to get a little more out of the low gears. Haven't installed it yet though. Photo taken yesterday during a -20 degree ride.

Here's my brake pedal setup. Don't know the story on it. I bought the machine this way. If anyone can identify it. That would be awesome. I know Veal commented on it once but I don't think he knew either.

THIS is the only thing that i DO NOT recommend. These cams are in NO WAY high performance. They have the very close to same lift (the lift on the "high performance" one is LOWER), and the duration is LOWER than stock, meaning that you will LOSE performance! Shortline and I both bought one and returned them ASAP after measuring and comparing to stock. Don't waste your money! I have told the seller bikerchicks about the problems and they admitted the problem but brushed me off other than charging me an extra 25% of the original cost to restock the part that I returned. I got mine up and running as well... but had some serious problems, mostly due to the previous owner being a retard... It was a real basket case when I got it...

The old engine, has a cracked case on the other side, probably tossed a chain. I'll probably tear it apart and fix it... someday...

Engine fit in with no issue. I got the engine off e-bay. It's from a 1982 200. Took a chance but the seller had a good rep and it was great, has zero noise and runs like a top. If you have issues with the carb fitting in, just use the manifold off of the 200x and it will fit fine in the frame.

Tank is in really good shape, needs some new paint but has no rust in or out. That white wire dangling is the only part that I could not fit in the stock harness. I ran that temporarily to get it going...

Better shot of the left side of the engine. I ordered new sprockets and a chain which are now installed.

HUGE nightmare with this. First it was the wrong axle, then the afore-mentioned previous owner (AKA Retard) WELDED a humongous plate to the swingarm to attach a hitch!!!! I replaced the swingarm and axle but getting the old swingarm bolt out was a nightmare. I finally had to cut it out with a sawzall. Good thing my replacement swing came with a bolt, they are getting hard to find!

So right now it's up and running, it's a blast in the snow, way better than my Big Red, probably because of the skinny front tire and kick-ass rears. It's running lean so I have a carb kit on order, and also ordered a new grab bar for the rear. I'm hoping next summer to tear it apart and get it completely rebuilt. It is WAY more fun in my trails out here than a clutch bike, but if it wasn't all bush and more open the clutch version would be more fun!

Has anyone found a front sprocket cover that works? Short of cutting the ATC200 cover to fit the 200X frame. I was thinking of trying an XR200 cover. I gotta wait til I can afford to gamble $30 on the buy though.
