    Suggestions?

Sooo, I picked up all this Honda stuff yesterday (Craigslist ad, of course not as described). So this '84 R frame is pretty bad, can I plug and weld it or not? Hate to shortchange it, and I have access to a wire welder. And obviously replace the missing lower cross brace...

from the pics i am thinking the frame is pretty thin, you could weld it up but it will more than likely break again, just my 2 cents

Yea, I was thinkin the motor would torque the welds. Anyone fab up replacement tubes with success? I guess that's where my thoughts went right away...from the replacement cross brace up? Or possibly after welding it back together and reinforce with square tube up to the top of the frame? Chime in with any idea, or talk me into scrappin it...

    It's too far gone...

All the metal in the frame is fatigued and will separate at the weld, where new metal meets old metal...

How's that for "talking you into scrappin it?"

I am interested in the `84 swingarm if you don't have plans for it.

I'm 46 miles south of you...no shipping required.

If it's welded properly it'll be fine aslong as it's welded to good steel!!!
If it ain't sideways......what's the point!!

At least one success story, not too bad. I will cut as far up the straight part or the frame as I can to check out how bad it has rusted. I will post a pic. I did see another thread where that same part was cut out and replaced. Hate to spend a bunch of time on it to fail quickly, and I know some guys say "ya weld it up every time it breaks". Not gonna happen cause I don't have a welder. Stay tuned.
