    45mm kiethin on an 81 250r!?!?!

K folks... almost got my 250r air cooled trike back together and one thing is the intake boot is torn.. I now know why.. someone managed to shoehorn a 45mm keithin on the stock intake boot. 10mm over sized sounds like WAAAAAY to big of a carb on this motor, it was running great before the piston circlip let go but still is that way too much carb?

if she ran fine, runn it! get a bigger intake boot for it and have at it! on ym 200x stock had a 24mm carb, I now have a 30mm carb and it loves it! slam the throttle and hold on tight cause it's one harry ride!!

you sure it's a stocker setup? maybe they ported it and used a bigger piston or higher compression one?

You must be measuring on the airfilter side of the carb and not where it goes into the intake.

You are measuring the wrong part of the carb. It's hard enough to fit a 39mm carb on one. Got any pics?
By the way, unless it's a highly modified engine, a 36mm is about all you need.

def would not run well with a 44mm carb, that is what zilla guys use on drag ported engine with twice the motor.
