83, 84, 85 will bolt right in. The 86 is totally different. You can also you a 185S or 200S engine.

i was hoping the '86 would work because i hear it's a better engine and it has a 6th gear, and theres one on ebay for 400

You would have to do a lot of fab work to get an 86 engine to fit in. I wanted to do the same a while back, but quickly found that you simply can't just bolt and go.

i am about to sell my recently built 200x 84 engine. wiseco 12:1 pisotn and web stage1 cam. really nice setup with 30mm carb. if intersted, let me know as I am thinking of putting a different motor in the 200x.

it's a very stout motor! runs very string too! would take $400 for it as it's had the top end redone and ginished breaking in and ridden about 5 hours total.

Yep, XR 200 is a bolt and go. I sold a stroked one to a member on here, said it blows his stock 200x engine away. The only issue is that it's reverse kick, rather than forward. Would work well on a dune bike with cut down fenders, not so much on OEM fenders.

^You just asked about an 86' motor for $400 on e-bay as an option. oscarmayer has a built one for $400. Don't think you realize that the parts to build one will run more than that, that's a heck of a deal. You'd better look for a 185/200 to suit your budget.
    83' 200x (son's). 85' 200 auto-x & 85' 125m (daughters). 84' Tecate(?). 85' KXT Tecate (mine!, mine!, mine!.)+ some others but don't feel like typing them in.

I second what Hang said, Oscarmayer has offered a heck of a deal on that motor. It's worth not eating out one night for that price.

I'm SOOOO tempted to say your mother, but I'm too nice.

My point still stands though. It's easily worth an extra $50.
