    Question Quick "Big Red" question

So I put an add out that I was looking for a Big Red. Old guy calls me up and says he's got one that he would be willing to sell. The trike is out at his cabin so he doesn't have it to look at but he says its shaft drive he thinks, but here is what throws me, he says that he had reverse put on it, I may be wrong here but 84 was the first year of the shaft and it came with reverse didn't it? Also he says it has a kick starter not a pull starter, I thought onle the 250es had the kick start? Anyways, he's gonna go pick it up this weekend and bring it back for me to look at, says its in great shape, nothing broke, everything works fine and he's thinking he would like to get 450 out of it! Price sound good either way, just want to know what model you guys think it is?

    Kick start = 250SX or 250BR elec/kick

84 was the first, and last year the 200 series has shaft, and they did also have reverse. They also had elec/pull.

All the shafy ATCs had reverse.

Just ask him if it has rear suspension. If it does that means its a 250. No rear = 200.
This is my trike. There are many like it but this one is mine. My trike is my best friend, and it is my life. I must master it as I must master myself. My trike without me is useless. Without my trike, I am useless. I must ride my trike true. My trike and I know that what counts is not the amount of miles we ride, but the time we ride together. My trike is human in it's own ways, therefore I will learn it as my brother. I will learn it's weaknesses, it's strengths, it's parts, and it's soul.

KS,it's a 250...HOWEVER,,there was a company back in the day that made kits for the 200's to give them reverse,,,,,in ALL of the gears! Supposedly Honda bought (copied) their design, hence reverse in 84.

200 series reverse is one gear only.

See that was the problem I was having trying to identify it over the phone. I was pretty sure that only the 250 had kickstart and he said exactlly " I had reverse put on" that statement led me to believe that is was maybe an 83 because I know they didn't have reverse but there was an aftermarket kit to add reverse.

Just ask about rear suspension, that will tell you exactly if it's a 200 or a 250.
