    need advice..

Alright, I m looking at buying a 83 250r for 1100. it has dg exhaust, boyesen power reeds, k&n air filter, douglas rims, razors on rear, pro taper handle bars, and new rear plastics. Saw it today starts good looks decent, but it has an oil leak from the drive sprocket, and the rear shock is blown(although it seems to be just low on fluid). he also says it has a smaller jet in the carb as to limit the power. All in all would this be a clean deal, and how hard would it be to fix the afore mentioned problems. Thank you

Shocks can usually be purchased for around $100 for a decent used one. The seal around the shifter is only a few bucks. What worries me is the statement "smaller jet in the carb". A smaller jet would cause it to run lean, which is bad for the motor, it also will increase power. I would check the spark plug and make sure it hasn't been running too lean. That being said jets are only a couple dollars. Assuming there is no damage done to the motor you could fix everything for under $200 if you do the work yourself.

Price tag sounds a bit high... For a few bucks more you could find a solid water pumper...

Scored cylinder walls... If its got a bad intake gasket, its would likely have been run lean...

    *update

he made it sound worse then it is. the cylinder walls look good, the plug looks great, the intake gasket is not that bad, it does not rev very much with starter fluid sprayed around. after all that I decided to buy it for $900. I still have questions to ask, but think I should kill this thread and start a new one. http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthr...512#post996512. Thank you all very much
