    Cool Project "Bandito" 90/110

I picked up a Bandito frame this past winter. I've spent way too much time looking for a donor 90 for this project so I guess I'll be using a 110 instead. A good friend told me about one that he ran across. I have to go pick it up this weekend. I finally found a nice 1st generation atc90 tank. Those things are hard to find in good shape. I also found some 78atc 90 rear fenders and seat. The fenders are a little rough but nothing I can't handle. The seat doesn't look too bad for now. I'm not sure what direction I'll go with the engine yet though. The 110 is supposed to run well so I may just clean the engine up from it and run it "as is" for now. I decided to just get it together for now so I can ride it this summer. I want to keep it as old school as I can but I don't want to get so deep into it that I'm afraid to take it out and play on it. Any input from you atc 90/110 guys is very welcome!
I have a few pictures of what I have so far. More to come. Many more.

This is the donor I picked up. I can't use the rear axle / brake assembly. Wrong year.

Heck, I have a couple of 90 motors I'm not using... I also have a set of US 90 fenders that could be usable... sounds like a cool project

Maybe you should call it "Bandaddio"?

I keep finding donors but they aren't the right year. The 110 I found as a donor is a running bike but I can't use some of the parts from it for this project. I'm still looking for a donor that would be a better candidate. However I may end up just buying a complete rear axle assembly and using the engine forks and controls from this donor. My rear fenders and seat still haven't come yet. I did get a steel front fender today. More pictures to come.

Here are a few more pictures. I have some forks on the way and found a member here that has pretty much everything else I'll need to finish this up.

I couldn't either. For $73 shipped I couldn't turn it down. Fenders are cracked in the back but every other set I saw was about the same. I jumped on these. Buy it now!!
I couldn't believe how nice the tank was either. I have a PCCC frontend on the way for it. My goal is to have it together for Trikefest! So far things are moving along pretty well.

I do like that tank. On my PCCC front end, I actually had to have the underside of the top triple machined to give me enough room to fit on my suspension 110 frame. Beware that you might have to do this as well. There just wasn't enough room to fit the thin washer and the top cap on, and this was after I ground off some on the serrated nut that holds the bottom triple tree on as well. Plenty of room now.

Thanks for the tip Veal. I plan on using a PCCC front end on a Nicholson frame. I just had to weld the steering stop holes that were stripped out. While I got it in the mill putting new holes in it I will take some off the boss!

I'm thinking about modifying the fenders I have , since they are already broken, to look more like these low profile fenders. I have a lot of experience with fiberglass so I see it as a real possibility. By the way I had to steal this pic to post it here. Sorry Robin and .

Also Daddio, if you are going "old skool", then you need to fashion yourself an aluminum plate that fits into the indented rear area of those rear fenders. It is to help keep the rear fenders from flexing so much and cracking and also to help reinforce the rear fenders from rocks and all. The aluminum generally went on the outside of the rear fenders. Some people painted their aluminum with different designs and names and such.

I did a little archaeological work on the rear fenders today at work. I also fixed the cracks and reinforced the rear area that seems to be a weak point. I also noticed that there was very little fiberglass in the fenders. It almost looks like they mixed in fine fiberglass into the gelcoat and either sprayed it in the mold or injected it into it. Here are a few more pics. I have some video of the actual repairs that I did.

    Next question.
Should I keep these in stock form or make them Low profile like the ones in the pic of Robin Davis's old racer?

I removed a pile of stickers off of this one and got to the bottom. Check it out.

Then under that I found this.

    Stripped to gelcoat.
