    snorkeling 185s

    hi i just bought a 1981 185s, and id like to snorkel it i was looking at the stock airbox hole and it looks like its a inch? also if i snorkel the airbox i should also run the crank vent up is there anything else that should be snorkeled?

    I would snorkel the exhaust pipe up, just in case.

    yes u do need to snorkle the crank also run new vent lines from the sides of the carb and those should be the only ones also run the drain from the carb up also ive gotten water into my carb thru there on my SX alot of times so i just closed mine up.

    Just to be on the safe side, if you plan on doing a lot of riding in deep water, try to protect the electrical components as much as possible.

    make sure you got good gaskets for around your pullstarter and flywheel !! dont need any water in there it'll stop ya dead !

    yes i made sure my pullstart is sealed to the tits, i used this gasket maker from canadian tire, also eddie what do u mean run vents from the side of the carb?

    good deal. your carb has 2 vents, left hand side on top theres a vent and on bottom of carb bowl theres a overflow thinger. block off the over flow one at bottom of carb and run a longer hose for side vent

    so i checked my carb diagram online not actually in person but i only see the gas line and the drain nothing else on the side?

    got your gas one on top side, just under it theres another one on the side, you would have to look at it in person. it almost looks like a spot for a idle screw but its clearly a vent lol

    oh ok its just a hole in the carb and doesnt come with a hose stock :P so hence to why i dont see it on the diagram lol, thanks for the quick replys
