    84' tecate voltage reg???

I pulled the tank of my 84' tecate today to check the wiring for the lights and found a cut yellow wire from the switch, but there was some other wires poking out from something bolted inside the hole just under the top tube behind the headstock, i took it out to see what it is and it seems to be an aftermarket voltage regulator made by TYMPANIUM CORP.
It wasnt connected up just in there! i connected the yellow wire back together on the loom and fired it up and the light works fine!!!!
Shall i just bin the regulator!!! it wasnt even connected...!

on the wiring diagram theres no regulator on it!
If it ain't sideways......what's the point!!

Run the regulator, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it ,ect. ect.
