    Restoring old, rusty wheels

How do you guys clean up old wheels? The rear wheels on my 250sx have a little rust here and there. Just sand them and fresh paint right? What kinda paint and process do you guys use?

If the metal is rust pitted you will have to fill the pits with something or it will show through. I have a blaster, so that's what I strip paint with. I like to use a rust kill treatment for the rust that blasting doesn't get. Kleen-Strip makes a good rust remover that can be bought at auto parts stores and Wal Mart, I think. I always powder coat stuff but I have a PC shop. At least buy good but auto paint is much better if you can go that way. If painting it's best to prime bare metal.

I sandblasted a set with a cheap blaster, then primed with Duplicolor self-etching primer and coated with Duplicolor wheel paint.
