From what i have heard, both are great bikes. If you can easily find both, choose which ever one seems to be in the best condition.

You can find parts much easier for the 250r and they will (for the most part) be cheaper.

I have two 250r s. I love them, great performing machine. I have never seen a Tri-Z before but i hear they are a blast.

Oh please, both are expensive just remember its an atv/atc be innovative. either one will cost you more than anticipated in the end! they are vintage machines. 250R's are great as well as the Tri-Z its if you want to put the time and money into either to make it your machine! just don't purchase and part it like everyone else has been doing lately!

all depends on what parts you need. watch ebay, there's always lots of tri z parts there, might not be what you need though.

i bought mine a number of years ago for about 700.00, it was pretty thrashed. i've now got about 2500.00 total invested, and it's a blast. not quite done yet, but then they never are.

$$$$$ I hear you I got $6500 in my 86 R and just dropped the bottem end off Monday to have a new crank, all bearings and clutch replaced to prep for my 330 big bore kit. The tri-z is defiantly a neat machine. The R has parts that are interchangable with the trx 250r and the newer 400ex too. I paid $1500 for mineby time I replaced the Axle carrier with a billet one, tires, fork seals, shock rebuild and all the chassie bearing, brakes and lines I had about $600. I'd figure that for ANY machine you mite buy. It all depend on what you wanna do with it. I go the northern WI and leave we ride 100-200 miles a day. I would never do that with out them items listed. If you brake down and leave it untended it will be gone! Ride em dont part em

This is not a cheap hobby; Both are fast and are well suspended machines.........

There are more "R" parts available but if you watch the "Z" parts can be found as well.

The ole-man we lost was a huge "Z" fan and he knew how to make them FAST!!!!!!!!!!

I have both. There are more Tri-z parts available than you think. The Honda's are more reliable IMO, but if set-up correctly the Z's can be good too. I feel more aggressive riding the Tri-z also.
