Difference in Gear Ratio: 250SX and 250ES? Difference in towing?

What is the gear ratio for the transmission on the 250SX vs 250ES. I know the 250ES has a lower first gear but by how much?

The have different ring and pinion gear ratio's... SX has a 4.96 rearend and the ES a 5.68 rear end...
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

From the service manuals: (sorry, the spacing in the table below won't stay right... just note that the SX is the first number, the ES is the second number)

    SX ES
    Primary: 2.407 2.407
    1st: 3.615 4.083
    2nd: 2.0 2.389
    3rd: 1.40 1.609
    4th: 1.069 1.179
    5th: 0.848 0.906
    Final: 4.969 5.684

So Primary is the same, but that's it. The rear axle ratio's are what Thorpe said above. Every gear in the trans is higher ratio on the ES (slower, more torque).

Basically the difference in the 2 machines gear ratio is nothing. The ES has a higher ratio rear end and bigger tires..the SX a lower ratio and smaller tires. Meaning at equal engine RPM you are going the same speed of both machines.

The towing is basically the same..on both my ES & SX

Just that the ES is a larger/heavier machine and more suited for utility work.
