XL185 engine problem

Well I have put a brand new carb on the engine (after cleaning the old one and replacing the cracked float with one from an ATC), fooled with idle mixture and idle limit to no end, new fuel lines and cleaned the filter screen in the tank, I ran a compression test (180 PSI), have spark, new plug, set the valve clearance, and have the pulse generator air gap correct. And I still get noting out of the engine just a fire or two at idle and a good rev at WOT then it dies. I am out of Ideas, anybody else have any?

Try without gas cap, plugged exhaust?Did you check the timming?(timming chain and pulse generator)
