My sister likes to ride my 86. She does real well, but doesn't really open it up. I get scared shes gonna try it sometime. or worse, an accidental snapping open of the throttle can spell disaster. My wife does pretty good just cruising around too, but I have the same worries.

my wife rides a 250r in the dunes and loves it ,,, i have always liked the tecate ,,, its different and you don't see many of them , it should be a easy transition to the tecate ,, maybe a flywheel weight to smooth it out a little would help too,,,,
Let me know what kind of shape their in if you don't pick them up.
