WOW! That is nice. However, I have a different definition of "mint". For example, for 5 bone$ I expect to see paint on the frame and cases where it's worn off and no rust/grime anywhere like on the lower a-arms and bolts and a cleaner axle ... but I've never ridden a quad so what do I know...

It's a nice bike, but it's not mint for the aforementioned reasons in jb2wheels's post.
If I were to pay that price, I would also expect the exhaust pipe to look mint and not used. It's definitely a well used machine, and I'd take a wild guess that the engine may need a rebuild sometime in the not so distant future.

Nice but I agree with everyone else. Pictures usually are deceiving and make things look better than they are and I see a lot of blemishes. Definitely not mint but nice looking bike.

no way worth that!!!!! i bought a better one last year for $2500 in Cali...less rub on the frame and engine and that one is missing OEM front bumper and grab/toolbox....

ok i'm not a 250R guy don't know to much about them, but i always wondered are the motors that are in the trikes the same as the quads? and vise versa?

^Probably pretty close. Seems like the logical choice, as it would be the easiest and least expensive method to manufacture- you know, using the same engine throughout a range of bikes? Kinda like the XR200 and 200X engines...

My knowledge is definitely limited, as far as I know the difference between the atc and trx250r motors is that the trx motors have a longer rod (thus use a spacer plate under the jug). I also know that there was a clutch upgrade in 88 or 89 that a lot of the 85-86 atc250r owners will retrofit. That is the extent of my knowledge. The head gaskets are different between the 86 atc250r and the trx250r head gasket I got off Ebay. The differences are little if any, but there.

Yes many small changes from 85 to 89 the rod is longer but doesn't use a spacer the piston is different (different piston pin position) the cylinder is different it has a bridge on later years....clutch upgrade in 89....kick starter changes from 85 and a few others too.....
