yeah looks sketchy to me, would be nice with a custom aluminium oil res tho and as much as my cousins stock 400ex likes to wheelie i bet this front tire is never touching the ground

bet that is a fun ride! lol I have a 400ex motor that is mostly complete, but there is nothing wrong with my 350 motor so no sense in tearing it up.

    so what is the gain??
both oil cooled motors, 400ex has a res
both roughly the same hp, 350x more torque
    400ex heavier and bulkier
    350x is 6 speed

I really dont see the point unless he couldnt find a 350x motor. The 350x motor is way more buildable and reliable
Plus my stock 350x is fast than my buddies hi comp and piped 400ex

I personally think that 400ex looks like crap stuffed in like that, could have made it alot better looking, IMHO

The oil tank looks like a colostomy bag on there. That said, I bet it rips. The nice thing about a 400EX engine is that the head is much better and it's easy and cheap to make a big bore. I bet it's much faster than a similarly built 350X engine. The nice thing is that it is air cooled, so relatively simple. I would try and make the frame down tube the oil rezzy, or just get a piece of rectangular or square tubing that is close to the size of the downtube and attach it alongside...

i can totaly agree with you on reliability with the 350x , they just dont make them as reliable as they did in the old days. now they want ever little thing to wear so quick you'll be spending money on parts.
