New to me 86 big red

Hey guys I am completely new to these bad boys but recently purchased one for ten bucks. Its all original I think and has been sitting inside for at least 20 years. I plan on fixing her up and then selling it. My question is outside of draining the tank, changing oil, spark plug, cleaning the carb and cleaning/replacing oil gas filters what else is ther to do/inspect this thing to get her functional again. I' just got it so I'll post up some pics tomorrow when I get into it. ANY ADVICE ON PRICE RANGE once repaired? I am mechanically able but have never touched an atv/atc before. Thanks for any advice I appreciate it greatly!

Just found out yesterday that I need an airbox assembly. I'll try to load up the pic I have.

TEN DOLLARS??????? wow i get so frustrated at how everyone has good luck in finding awesome deals and i end up paying top dollar for everything it seems like....... Anyway change the gear oil in the rearend, it only holds about a cup of gear oil so it is crutial that it is changed regularly

They have been going for 700-1300 here. But I would only pay that much if there nothing wrong with it.If your lucky you'll find one that needs some light work for 400-500 ish.I know there are those ''deals'' you come across but this what they usually go for.

You pretty much covered everything to check, might want to check the brakes if your gonna be flying

SWEET!!! Was that an official police trike?? If it were mine, I would fix it up to look the same as it did when it was on patrol. If it was a government vehicle, it was probably maintained really well and has very low and easy hours on it. Awesome score man!

I don't know about it being an 87, the sticker on the frame says conforms to all 1986 regs. The rather crude bill of sale slip says 87 though, It has no title however. Story goes it was purchased by the local PD for patrol, they were soon outlawed so they donated all of them (4?) to the local school district who in turn just parked them. I have been trying to get them for years and finally got one as someone else took the other one that was still available. Supposedly 2 were scrapped about 15 years ago and 2 survived, I got one, they wouldn't let me buy them both but I almost got em. It still has the original stickers on the tank they were just painted over and the police decals applied on top of the new paint. It is missing the side engine covers and the airbox assembly. Other than that its pretty complete. I'll get it up and running and sell it here. You guys will be the first to have at it.
