    Engine rebuilding tips

    Im rebuilding my 1984 honda 250r engine lower and top end. I am looking for tips and ideas so that this will last another 25+ years like it did from factory. SO any body with great knowdledge and ideas lets hear your thoughts. Im a mechanic at an atv/dirtbike shop but have never touched bottom ends before. A question I had was can I split the cranks or do I have to take them to a shop to get them split as well as trued? Input is very appreciated.

    find a good shop who does lots of crankshaft rebuilding, they will have all the jigs and fixtures required to do a good crankshaft rebuild. I wouldn't try it yourself. Its all about having the right fixtures.
