The 500 motor bolts into that frame with few mods. The biggest problem is modding the frame in the front where the exhaust comes out of the engine. The exhaust on the 250 motor comes out at an angle to the right side of the bike. The 500's exhaust port comes straight out the front, right where the front down tube for the frame is. The other thing that makes it tough is building a pipe for it. You can mod a KX 500 pipe, but that's not the best way to do it. You would have to get one made to really have it done right.

Or you could look into a Sprock big-bore motor if you have a couple of years to wait for it to be done.

If you dont want to do the 330 big bore then you can add these and that should wake up you trike

Port & Polish Cylinder (most important part)
Shave Head (raise compression, remember higher you go higher the octane you need to run)
Good Exhaust System (I recommond Jemco, or Klemm pipes)
    38-40mm Flat Slide Carb
Remove airbox and go to open intake
Either V-Force Reed cage and reeds or modified Stock reed cage for topend

That will wake your tecate up big time!!!

yeah go with the kx cylinder with a shaved kxt head. also you could go with the kx ignition, doesnt really increase the power, but gives you reliability and dependability over the stock setup thats prone to grenading. or go with a pvl which revs higher and faster... t3's are pretty powerful stock but with the above mentioned mods they are a beast!! and will shut pretty much anyone up.

Harry Klemm is doing big bore kits, so you won't have to wait a year or two. He's busy at the moment with the watercraft season, but will be caught up and ready to go in a month or two.

Yes, I belive so. I got the info on him from dcreel (my hero), and e-mailed him. Only one year of the 86' raced, where as 2 (actually 3) of the 85'-84' did, but we'd have to ask dcreel, all I actually know of is the 83' (84' with experimental 200 KDX motor), 84' and 85', both 200 and 250cc. The 200 debored was the best out of the three major manufacturers. And Jimmy White didn't switch over to the 86' right away because his 85' Kleem Research was so dominate. At any rate, this is an honor to have a big bore kit, as the 'A's don't currently have anyone who makes a bore kit for them.

I would go so far as to say that there isnt much that Harry Klemm can't do to a 2 stroke motor. He did amazing work in the 80's on 2 stroke motors. He has had 25 years to perfect what he knows. I am saving my money to get some more motor work done. Send him an e-mail and talk it over with him.
