    brake problems 86 200x

I was trying to change my brake pads (rear) on my 86 200x and I can't get the piston in the caliper to retract at all. New pads won't fit with it all the way out like it is. I noticed a leak in the rubber where the parking brake goes into the caliper. I don't know if these problems are related but a) does it sound like my caliper is wasted b) can I just replace the piece by the parking brake (just the rubber)? Am I missing some trick to get the piston to retract?

have you had the line disconected from the caliper so that the fluid will come out?

Open the bleed screw and use a c-clamp to force the piston back in. Put in your new pads and then bleed the brakes.
