    1984 yamaha 225dx restoration/fabrication

Just got this 1984 ytm225dx in a wheeler deal, and it's pretty beat, oil drail plug is so ripped up from the previous idiot of an owner not using the right size wrench or socket, then after it was stripped tried numerous times with vice grips. Some more bad stuff about it I seen was obviously the motorcycle tire and front end, that has to go pronto. It had the hub welded to the axle and the weld failed (whoever welded it sucks completly at life, let alone welding). The plastics are struggling to hang on when the wind blows. The seat looks as if the fattest person in the world rode the crap out of it, I see more foam exposed then anything. The oil is easily an inch OVER the full mark on the dip stick. It has electric start but the wires and stuff are disconnected or missing.
Now the good, It does run, 1 or 2 pulls ( I don't let it run long need to drain the oil). hahhaha thats it just that is runs. But I am determined to get her ridable and looking alot better than that (I have a 1983 ytm200 for parts I am going to try to fabricate on: plastics, front end, rear axle (unless I buy Kirby's axle, I hope. waitin for his reply). I'm excited to get the project rolling and will post as it happens. Getting pics asap.

that almost looks like a kawasaki ninja front forks and tire. I had one about 12 years ago, and remember that metal plate that holds the front fender on, as I had to replace my fender.let me see what I can find for for a set of forks for you I think I can get a used set for a decent price from my local honda shop, last I saw they were still in a frame but were there.

hahah thx guys. Yea bought it in manchester, kinda got it as part of a barter deal, really just wanted the money to buy my honda 250sx. The guy wanted $300 for the ugly beast and I talked him down to $200 before we made a barter (and the trade was the 225dx and $400 for my 1987 suzuki quadsport that I bought for $200).
PROGRESS UPDATE: So far I got the other ytm200 axle all stripped and rdy to go in the 225dx, the splines and stuff look good on that, couldn't get the bearings out of the ytm200 housing tho :/ . However more bad news, I just found out that the other hub has been welded to the axle too (WTF!!!). And of course my luck, that hub has to come off for the axle to be pushed through. So as of now I got the front end off and nearly done with putting the other parts front end I got on, and I customized one of my spare ytm200 rear plastics to retro-fit onto the 225dx. On the other hand, the good news is that I talked to the previous owned of the ugly beast, and he said that the engine in that 225dx has been bored out and had been "overhauled," in his words, by the previous owner he got it from. Hmmmmmmmm interesting. Also, check out the pic of her without the "ninja" front end, lol, Muthey.

ZZmegad: yeah I think they do sell em still but; gettin it out is the hard part right now, and actually I think I got another on from my parts ytm200. I'll get a pic of the hub welds and the stripped plug tomorrow show you guys what I'm dealin with. Along with some progression pics, however I have to get that welded hub off somehow, wether it's cutting the damn thing off or not, same goes for those housing nuts, so lemme know if you guys got any better ideas.
