Sooo yesterday I went for a ride, and met these kids that just moved in at the end of my street. Usualy in my little hicktown street no one cares if we ride but my exhaust silencer fell off and I left it off for the day((so you can tell how loud it was)) and the kids I met had a foreman lifted with 29.5 outlaws and a HMF super swamper pipe ((loud anoying SOB)) and his little brother had a lt80((freaking leaf blower)). So we went mud boggin down some new trail to the lake((bad idea clay mud all over my bike)) Then we went to this river a mile or 2 away and were playing in the lake. then there mom calls and says hey the cops are all down are road yall hide. My thaught was drive normal and act right and the cops wont care, pfft wrong!!!! So we are heading back and I see one of the cops and i wave at him and he didnt wave back and keep going. I was like wtf what a butt then my dad rounds the corner so pissed he made me load my bike up and escorted the other kids home. my dad is a cop in a different county then we live in so he asked them wtf and they said kids on four wheelers and blah blah blah. But needles to say they had 3 cops on my road 2 in cars and one on a polaris sportsman. I almost got my stuff impunded man I was so scarred. its like a grand to get them out of impound around here. Anyone had their bikes impunded??

Sounds like some cops wanted to bug you. If they're good cops, they will issue you a warning, something like "Don't let me catch you riding here again" ect ect. Bad cops give you tickets up the butt and impound your stuff without so much as a warning. Have they came by before? Are you riding on fenced off and clearly stated "No Trespassing" property?

Around here, the police don't care as long as the neighbors aren't bugged (there is one neighbor that is bugged by any noises above the usual bird noises, and calls the police on ANYBODY who is making anything that sounds remotely like noise- he gives you the dirty eye even if you're just walking by! The police hate him..).

Usually, a 'citizen' need to complain for the cops to 'enforce'
whatever...
unLESS it's a crime type deal, then they can kick yer ssssss and take your toys.

I guess if you had a helmet, flag, proof of ownership inside your helmet and proof of insurance and was riding
superslow and quiet..

our state off road website has the rules
which I carry, so I can SHOW the cops the actual laws.

Most cops don't know all the laws, heck, even lawyers don't know them all.

Then again, I also carry a pocket copy of the US constitution
to prove my rights.

Just be careful and be glad no one got hurt and you still have your machines.

know you're feelin man. theres a place across from my house where we used to ride. allofasudden! cops, by-law officers, and you name it swarming the place like a swat team looking for a serial killer. didn't have to deal with them thankfully but it kinda sucks when its okay for like 15 years and then you cant anymore... ya it was the towns corprate property, but everyone used to turn a blind eye.

I know I had been living here my whole life and I moved out about 8 months ago and now its summer time so i came back for all the land to ride on and now theres the dang police!! I still have the pasture to ride in though and my friends pasture so its all good I even talked to the people that live by the pipeline on hte other end of my street and they dont care if I ride there. heck one dude said matter of fact come around back and he pulled out his honda foreman and rode with us. lol

Here we have nothing but rules..basically I have to trailer my trikes 10 miles out of town and find someone's private property and ask permission to ride.

Last winter when there was 2 feet of snow I decided to run my trike up and down the road for fun..hell there weren't any cars. Well I got one of those Azzhole neighbours that call the cops about everything..lucky for me the cops showed up just as I pulled my trike into the shed and the tracks all over the place made it tough to tell where they came from. Didn't catch me!!

Like Joe was saying..find out what your local laws are about the operation of ATV/ATCs.

Hate to say it but this ones on you..you can't be pissed at the cops for enforcing. It just takes one citizen complaint and they have no choice. They got a job to do and yours is to know the and follow rules!!
