i have and 82 250r need to no what would happen if i changed out my rear 44 tooth sprocket for a 42 tooth? ive never swapped them out and just wondering what it would do if i did. thanks to anyone that could help.

It would raise the gearing a bit - it's not a big change. If you make the front sprocket larger by 1 tooth it has about the same effect as reducing the rear sprocket by 3 teeth. It is similar to a 1 inch change in tyre diameter. Potentially it will top out at a slightly higher speed - maybe 4mph, but that depends on whether it has enough power to pull it. On the downside it will accelerate slightly slower.
