    HOnda Vs Yamaha Advice?

Ok, looking to purchase my first wheeler and was wondering what I should be looking at. I currently have a line on a 300m Honda but I'm not sure how big these trikes are? I am 6'8 and go about 350. I can't really afford a 250ES, how does the size compare? I have seen Yamaha 225DX's, don't they have rear suspension? What is the bigger bike?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Honestly,,6'8,,you are gonna be cramped on EVERY 3wheeler. Just saying! Anyhow,,GO BIG RED!!! 250ES,all the way. The Yammies are ok,but the red is bigger. I've never done it with a 3wheeler. HAve sleds and quads. But,you can put handlebar risers on it to raise the height. Then you get into lengthening cables, wires etc.. The payoff of always being able to reach it!! lol Welcome and good luck!

The DX is fine, I've had mine forever, its a great trail trike, I'm 6'8 also and the only modds I've done to adjust the bike are wheelspacers and fourtrax250r bend bars on all my bikes. That bend bar has the highest rise w/out going with risers.

I have a Yamaha 225dx and a Honda 200S. The Yamaha is deffently a larger machine and a lot of fun to ride. As for parts, the Honda will be much easier to find although so far the only part I have not been able to get for the Yamaha is a Carb kit. eBay is a wonderful thing!!!

There is no such thing as a 300m trike. Or 300m atc, 300m three wheeler. Its a 200m, owned by someone who doesn't know what it is. A 200m would be fine for you at 6'8. They are a decent sized bike. However, if you could afford it, you would love a atc 250es Big Red. So much room, rear suspension ( unlike the 200m ) and a bulletproof 246cc motor.

I had both Honda Big Red 250es and a 85 Yamaha 200ERN. Both had 25-12-9 big tires and reverse. Actually I believe my Yamaha sat taller than the Honda, I have some photos some where. The Yamaha didn't have the rear suspension and probably harder to get parts for compared to Honda but still a nice ride with the big tires. My brother ended up with my Yamaha 200ERN and he's 6'7" had no problems. Both great machines. The 250 Big Red was a nice ride and comfortable and I'm over 300lbs. The Yamaha would pull wheelies pretty easy with me on it in 3 gears! If you go for the Big Red I would try for a 1986 if possible and 85 for the Yamaha 200. Hope this helps!!!

you realize you are asking a very controversial question here? There are die hard honda and die hard yamaha fans. I have both and where I live most of the hondas were rode so hard they are almost dead, I have only one good honda out of three and two good yammis out of two, lol so I guess it will all depend on what you can get in the best condition for the best price. Ebay sometimes has lots of dx225 parts and sometimes not just a chance of luck, but I would definitely recommend a trike with suspension for your height and size

I meant 200m, typos, gotta love it. I know I was asking a question that will have many answers. I was mostly interested in the size and comfort style of both machines. I pretty much figured that the 250ES would be a bigger machine but I just wanted to make sure the 200m would fit me. I didn't want to drive an hour away to look at something that wasn't going to fit my big arse.
I have seen a few 250 Big Reds for sale around here but they are all out of my range. I am looking for something under 500 and the Yamaha 225DX has now peaked my interest. Does anyone have a pic of a 225DX or 200 Yamaha next to a Honda 200M, S, or Big Red? Thanks for all the comments and help.

    Mike

You should hold out for a 350x. A 200m is small for a 5'11 guy like myself. Unless your building the bike I'm building out of a 185s SEE.

6'8" you will feel cramped on pretty much everything out there. These aren't big bikes like some of the ranch 4x4 ATV's. A 200 bike is relatively small, and that's what I like about them.

That is one sweet loooking bike, nice job, looks like your in the home stretch!! I have a line on a couple Yamahas but no one seems to want to call or email me back. I love how people place adds but don't get back to you for almost a week. I guess they just don't want to sell their stuff, lol
