    86 Tecate

I couldn't really afford to buy it but I did because I rarely see them for sale in Norcal. I think it has a widened axle, the rear shock is toast, and it has low compression. I could push the kickstarter down by hand. Besides that it looks pretty good. The only bad thing is maybe it has a kx dirtbike motor and not the original. The barrel is aluminum color not black. The case had kx250...... is it supposed to have kxt250.... for serial numbers?

I'm pretty sure all of the Tecate's had KX and not KXT on the motor serial number (All of my 84-85's do). The Barrel may have been stripped or painted a different color when the PO did a top end rebuild.
    Rides:
1986 ATC250R (sectional pipe and Klemm Research silencer)
1986 ATC250R (Desert Bike, WAX-ON seat, Dual Cibie lights, Steering Stabilizer)
1979 ATC110 (Bandito frame and forks, Turbo wheels, disc braked)
    1982 ATC70 (Lifan manual 125)
    1987 LT80 (piped, widened)

    Bigger pics!!!

Also, do the KX engines just drop right in? Seems like a lot of stuff is interchangeable, so why wouldn't the engines be?

They will for the appropriate year KX250 for KXT250 frame, but the KXT transmissions had stronger gears made to contend with the shock load of 2 rear tires and an axle to spin them on. People have run the KX trans in the Tecate before.

^It's always something like that isn't it? I bet you'd be fine if you weren't nuts on the gas and such. But wait, then why do you have a Tecate?

I am taking pictures with a droid I don't know how to make them bigger, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Okay, you have your camera in multi-media messaging mode, which means that it will take smaller pictures so that they are easier to send through your text messages.

Go into the camera, and then go into the settings, I believe it looks like a gear. Then scroll down to picture size. Set it to LARGEST. Droid phones normally have decent cameras in them so they can take rather large photos.

That is good to know I was thinking it had a kx engine. I tried looking at some pictures of stock motors and they were all black so I thought the bare aluminum cylinder was possibly from a mx bike. Thanks for the info.
