Help save the Oregon Dune Trails!!!!!!

Help save the dunes, Oregon is attempting to close 103 miles of trails in the Oregon dunes. Even if you have never been there and do not ride there, I am asking that everyone send a letter asking to keep the dunes open. Stated facts as to why they should be open and the benefits of keeping them open.

Below is the link, read the proposal, at the very bottom you will find the information and email address where you can send letters stating your thoughts. List things such as the effects on the economy, family riding, little to no environmental effects and anything else you think of.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE A LETTER AND SAVE THE OREGON DUNE TRAILS.

I have studied this proposal and it is going to be hard to overturn. They are mainly closing off most of the trails on the out sides of the open areas.

it sucks, the Open areas are the most dangerous for riding. A lot of these trails have been around since I was born and are not hurting anything.

I propose that if they insist on closing down the trails, open up the area from spinreel to winchester bay for OHV use to help compensate for the loss of riding area. This 4th of july was the most crowded I have ever seen the dunes yet.

Also they complain about not having the money to pay to enforce the trail area's and yet the permit price for 2 years of riding is $10.50.... Now I like cheap permits, but if they are so hurt for money a $20 permit would double their income from permits and would still be acceptable for riders to pay.

A permit there is only ten bucks? Holy crap. We pay $90 a year at glamis and that's if you buy off site. At the dunes it's like $120.

I'll probably never get a chance to see these beutifull trails but, hate to see anyone have their fav riding area shut down. We had a similar issue up here at the dunes in Grande Prairie, AB. However, a lot of conciencious users got together and organized a MASSIVE clean up effort to show we do believe in being responsible. Local companies got involved in sponsoring by donating the use of equipment, trucks, manpower, etc. The local salvage yard graciously took all the burned out vehicles and garbage appliances for free. End result, no trails were closed and the place looks great. We barely even see any law enforcement down there anymore.

Please write letters, the petition is great, but they need to see actual letters from people also. They don't have to be long, just write down your thoughts and your love for riding and the outdoors. As many as possible!!!!

At the Little Sahara Sand Dunes in Oklahoma it's $10/day and the people are happy to pay it. I think it helps to weed out the knuckleheads too..
