will this winch work for my 1985 honda big red????

    http://www.amazon.com/Champion-Power...0497309&sr=8-8

will this winch have all the stuff to hook it right up? ive never hooked a winch up before and i was wondering if this would work? also will it hook straight up to the battery? i know i will have to build a mount to hold the winch itself, thats no big deal. but i just want to know if this is all i need? if so for the price it seems like a good deal. i wont be using it to pull to much, just some deer and some small quads.. possibly my 200 out of the mud sometimes. thanks a lot.

Biggest thing to consider when buying a winch is the amperage draw. These small motors usually put out rather low wattage from the stator. Not sure about a BR but I know from the 70 all the way up to the 185s the stator puts out pretty much just enough for the lights. I'm not sayin' it won't work but, you might want to consider a higher output stator ( check out Rickey Stator ) and maybe a higher capacity battery. Of course it depends on how much you use the winch as well. There is always the old school route of either a hand powered boat winch or a come-a-long as well. Either way, good luck, hope you find something that works out for you.

P.S. A big trike still only wieghs like 400lbs tops so a 1000lb winch should be plenty. Rule of thumb is get a winch rated for 1 1/2 times the weight of the vehicle.

well if i go straight form the battery it should not matter about the amperage, my electric start on my big red doesnt work so it would litterally be charging it for my head light and the winch. most of the time i drive it will be during the day, so my headlight is off. i would think that the winch should not have any problems, i will look for maybe a 1500 pound winch instead but i just thought that the price seems to be so good for this one.

I planned on reinforcing the front rack with a 1/4 inch steel plate and some reforce bars back to the forks. i looked around on this website and saw quite a few people have mounted winches on there big red, one person left the rack completely stock also.
that is no big deal, i am just trying to find a winch that would work, for cheap.

Never had a dead battery yet... And I run the pooh out of it in the winter, running my plow... (wiring is simple. Its wired direct to battery, and solenoids mounted in the trunk)

Its just a black box in the trunk... 2 wires, 10 gauge, (battery) and plug the control switch in... Super simple...
