The only time I have wrecked a trike is when I was doing something I should not have been doing also I would have wrecked if I was on a quad. Needless to say that was back in the 80,s I now know better lol welcome and take your time read the forums and learn more about your trike ask plenty of questions we will be happy to help!

Have you guys never rolled your trikes? ever?
It was a 12 foot hill that is nothing for my quad, a 2001 polaris 500 if your wondering so i figured it would be possible on the three wheeler, i was wrong and i immediately spent several hundred dollars fixing my mistake. Not only fixing my mistake but improving on the honda that i purchased by getting parts it was missing, neat things like the front fender and the entire rear plastic and the air filter cover. and since i had the day off today i took the atc to pieces for a desperately needed greasing.
The front left shock was packed full of sand as there were no boots prior to my purchase and thanks to a semi local honda dealer im getting the seat recovered.
I will admit i have zero experience on a three wheeled off roader, i bought one a few years back that was in far worse shape then the one i just purchased and it was stolen the same week before i could even get it running.
Unless i get banned for the idiot hello post i did im not planning on leaving, information is hard to come by and you established guys would be my only route to find out about the atc. Hell i found the site by looking online for a brochure for my 200e after i found very little through other means.
I apologize for offending anyone that was not my intent and if i had gone through the forums a bit more before posting i would likely have found that my post wouldn't have been well received.

In my defense it was flooded because it couldn't handle the water the quads in front and behind me at the time could as i foolishly assumed it had an air filter cover and the jump was totally accidental i was seated cresting a small hill doing about 15 and the roots running across the trail sent me flying off not the atc flying through the air, bear in mind i hand bent handle bars and was just looking to get it home with the group.
I am a safe rider the vast majority of the time, ive never once rolled a quad and ive been riding for about 20 years.
The reason i posted on this board in the first place was to find people hopefully in my area that love three wheelers, ive been dreaming of getting one since i was old enough to go to school and they were the coolest thing on the planet but they are either insanely overpriced in my area or farm relics like the one i currently have which again is in far better condition due to my ownership then it has suffered from it.
I made one god damned mistake out of my long pent up excitement.
Very maturely accepted and assimilated..we are not trying to rain on your excitment, just helping to mold a long term member.

I for one am not going to cr@p on you for trashing a piece of history, but for putting your life in peril. Damn tell me you wear a helmet? I think that is the bigger issue than a machine..

We just don't want to start another forum..'hey remember that kid who posted how he bought his 1st trike, went apeshlt and died in 3 days??'

You accepted the harsh response with grace and will do well here..there is alot of opinion and sometime attitude here but they are all good guys with alot of good information.

Again, Welcome to 3WW. Learn your machine, have fun and stay a while!!

And yeah, I've flipped my trike a few times..we all have. They're dangerous..haven't you heard?

always lean forward when going up steep hills. you have a 200E like I have, it has lo-range and if you use it and have good tires she'll crawl up any hill while leaning forward, without tipping backwards.

I have never rolled or flipped one of my trikes. course, I Old Fart it pretty good lol, because I want to be able to enjoy my ride and live to ride another day.

welcome to 3WW, great bunch of guys here.

lol im surprised did you wear a helmet was even a question, with off roading it goes without saying. Unless of coarse you are one of the guys that drunk rides in which case Darwin is waiting for you anyways.
So since my little thread has got quite a bit of attention i may as well use some of it. On my 200e does the e stand for electric?
Ive tried finding pictures but to no avail, is there supposed to be a rear shock on the 200e? it looks like either someone replaced the existing mounting bracket with a angle iron mounting bracket where the front end of my trunk should be, right behind the battery but theres nothing for the bottom end of the shock to attach to.
Whats a comprises a good kit for my atc? so far ive got 10, 13 and 14 mil sockets and wrenches, a pair of vise grips a spare throttle cable (the old one), a spark plug and a length of wire. missing anything important? which will be the one thing that fails when i have no way to fix it on the trail.
Ive got western hills honda in ohio for some of the harder oems to find but is there a supplier in Canada for thing like handle bars, grips, decals etc...
and now i cant remember the rest of the questions that came to mind because i had to find the card for western hills honda, damnit.
Thanks for understanding guys, after the first few replies i was pretty much terrified of checking the thread after my second post.

Actually I'm happy to hear you, 'duh' of course I wear a helmet, but unfortunately it doesn't go without saying since many US states don't require it. And all you have to do it lookup 10 youtube clips of riders on trikes, 9 of them will have helmetless riders..quite sadly really.

Quite a few debates in here over this topic..glad you consider it a 'duh' question. I teach my kids the same, they know they don't even climb on the machine without one!!

I don't know anyone that snowmobiles without a helmet not just for safety reasons but wow would that be cold I couldn't image doing 100mph in 10f weather oh man that would be painfully cold no brainer on the helmet for sure.

    Absolved of a first mistake.
    How refreshing.
Some people really eat it without even trying.
Killed or busted up while offloading or on the way TO the trails/dunes.

You may remember my post about the local bike shop guy.
Fell off the trailer, broke his leg, got it pinned and plated, and died less than a week later.

    Rafting trip?
Guy takes off his life jacket, slips on the rocks and break a bunch of ribs, on DRY ground!
Who needs a life jacket on dry ground? river rafters, apparently.

    Rolls?
    Yupp.
My "A" team. min 15 years experience on trikes alone.

The first full suspension trike around the farm.
We're all so used to the hard tails and knowing exactly
where tail is in relation to earth, the suspension added just enough
variable for ALL of us to roll in the exact same place.
Are we idiots and irresponsible? apparently.
Tree branch in the forehead running thru the orchard?

so what do we tell new riders?
Never put your feet down. Helmets are mandatory.
Pretend it's a dirtbike with a built in kickstand.
Quads can be driven, trikes need to be ridden and sometimes when you turn the wheel, you'll go straight.

Yes, there is a learning curve, even between machines.
Glad you survived it all and came back so we can all (re) learn.
    Stuff can happen faaaast!
    even with no foreward motion.

Lordy! I feel like a whimp compared to this guy. I bought my trike about 3 weeks ago and so far I have ridden only around my property. I want to learn to shift my weight on my trike and gain good control beofre getting out and hotdogging. I hope to never flip or roll as parts are getting hard to find.
That said, welcome to the board!
Slow down, enjoy the trike and the wonderful experince and nostalgia they offer.
